Meet Your Lactation Consultants

Welcome!!!

Hi! My name is Brenda and I am so glad you are here! Reaching out for help isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Let me introduce myself a little to hopefully help you feel more comfortable.

A little bit of background on my education or my credentials if you will. I attended Simpson College and double majored in Biology and Spanish and from there went on to Allen College for nursing. I have my Bachelors in Nursing and after extensive training went on to get certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

I’m a Minnesota native but have put my roots down here in central Iowa. I am married to my wonderful husband, Corey and we have three sweet and silly little boys - 5yrs, 22 months and our newest addition that we welcomed in September! I truly love being a boy mama! I’ve just learned to embrace the chaos! :)

I have been a registered nurse since 2018 and a lactation consultant since 2020. My goal in nursing school was always to become a labor and delivery nurse with the long term goal of going back to school to be a midwife. After accepting a job as a perinatal nurse I was quickly thrown into a whole new world — breastfeeding. There is nothing like helping a new mom learn how to nourish her child at 2am. My passion started then and grew immensely as I had my own children. With each child I am thrown new breastfeeding obstacles that I, myself am still learning how to even navigate at times. These challenges have helped me empathize with the families I serve. As well as, continue to push me to advance my know

If I’m not helping with breastfeeding or breastfeeding my little one (iykyk) you could find me baking sourdough - jumped on that train in 2023. Definitely most likely drinking an iced coffee, a brown sugar shaken espresso has me in a choke hold - pretty sure I have a problem. Or, possibly embroidering something cute for my kiddos with all the extra time I have on my hands ;) but most likely just hanging out with the familia! <3

It’s an honor of mine to be able to help all moms and babes accomplish their breastfeeding/lactation goals.

My special interests are: prenatals (I love empowering families with the tools of knowledge and preparation), pumping and flange fitting, oral restrictions, extended breastfeeding and baby led weaning! I’m currently breastfeeding and love to debunk all the new trends/fads when it comes to lactation!

Hoping to meet you and your family soon!

Hello

My name is Callie and I am a nurse and an IBCLC, international board certified lactation consultant.

I graduated from Mercy College of Health Sciences in 2010, and then went on to become an IBCLC in 2020. I work at a Des Moines area hospital in their lactation department, and have held many different roles in healthcare throughout my career. I have especially enjoyed holding support groups for breast feeding families, watching these families building a community is amazing. In 2024 I added a new role as an independent IBCLC and now offer private home visits. My passion has always been woman’s health and I love empowering women by assisting them in their breastfeeding journey.

There is no judgement here as to how you have chosen to feed your baby. I am comfortable assisting families in finding their unique feeding journey, whether that is exclusively breastfeeding, pumping and bottling, or combination feeding with breast milk and formula.

  • I grew up here in central Iowa, and after traveling and living around the world I decided that Iowa was the only place I wanted to raise my children. Being a mother to my two beautiful daughters, is my biggest accomplishment. I am also a proud wife to Neal and we welcomed or first grandson in 2023, watching his little soul emerge has been both a pleasure and a privilege.

    My why:

My first experience studying lactation came in 2018, I was working as a perinatal nurse and was asked if I wanted to become CLC, certified lactation counselor, I went and spent a week in Phoenix and fell in love with a new career. The amount of knowledge that was packed into that week was absolutely life changing. I began helping the mothers and newborns on the unit where I was working, I had one mom and baby that just hadn’t found their groove yet. Baby was fussy at the breast mom couldn’t get comfortable, they were struggling. I told her I would stop after my shift, so she didn’t have to feel hurried. I came in and had mom do some skin to skin while she and I chatted, the baby wanted to move towards the nipple so I had mom help her, and just like that baby self attached. Mom looked down at her baby and smiled and I got to watch her fall in love with her baby. It was such a wonderful feeling, I knew it was the thing I wanted to do for the rest of my career. Holding space for parents and babies and assisting them in finding the path that is right for their family.
